Not a newfag to Vocaloid but i wasn't around for its beginnings. What was it like to be a Vocaloid fan before Miku or around the time Miku was relatively unpopular in the west (mid 2007-ish)?.

i actually wonder what it must've been like to see vocaloid go from a neat little tool to help producers generate vocals for their songs to a whole cultural phenomenon people still talk about to this day. from tonio, prima, sweet ann, etc to miku, gakupo, gumi, teto, etc.

Watashi no Koko general, since the project is still active and YOSU still releases music. I think it's a neat little project so i want to share it with you.

>What is Watashi no Koko

Watashi no Koko (formerly Kesson Shoujo) is a fictional experimental / noise / j-pop band from Japan created and managed by Kazuhumi Yosu with artwork generally illustrated by Kurage Nanami or Yosu himself. The vocals are produced using an outdated Japanese vocal synthesizer called LaLaVoice, which is personified as the character and core member of the band Lala.

Let's have a thread dedicated to finding some real hidden gems. Post songs by producers who haven't yet gained the recognition they deserve.

Rules:
>Songs must have less than 100,000 views
>Songs must be 1 month old at minimum and 1 year old at maximum - basically don't post super new stuff and don't post super old stuff either
>No shilling your own stuff, go to another thread for that
>No low effort meme/shitpost songs
>No covers or parodies

Bonus Points:
>Song isn't on Youtube but Nicovideo, BiliBili or another website (some producers only post their songs on social media believe it or not)
>Song uses an obscure Vocaloid/UTAU
>Song is producer's only work in years

i hope that for this year we will have at least voices of maki's partners in jam BAND (picrel), maybe i'm asking for too much but it would be cool. please hear me AHS….

Hi /leek/, has anyone here heard of "Songs Love"? Between 2015-2017 AH-Software did a few hologram concerts with their vocaloids at some anime conventions in Japan and Europe. The lineup was actually pretty big and consisted of Yuzuki Yukari, Nekomura Iroha, Tohoku Zunko, Hiyama Kyoteru, Kaai Yuki, Miki and Macne Nana as well as Chihiro Ishiguro who voices Yukari. Since I'm a huge fan of both Yuki and Yukari I decided to do some digging to see if I could find a full video of at least one of the concerts. Typically when Vocaloid concerts happen you can usually find the whole thing on YouTube from start to finish but that's not the case with Songs Love. Most of it is in fact LOST.

Holy fuck i just came so close to finding it only to end up at a dead end. Apparently one of the full concerts was streamed on Ustream by AHS themselves but as of 2024 it's down and archive.org doesn't seem to have it saved. http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/84529288

It's not footage sadly but i found what seems to be the setlist for two of the 2016 concerts, a 2017 one and a 2019 one. None of these have the setlist of the Amino post in >>132 so I'm guessing they changed up the setlist for each year (which makes perfect sense).

Feb 2016: https://vocadb.net/E/3820/ahs-vocaloid-concert-songs-lov

2019: https://vocadb.net/E/3821/ahs-vocaloid-concert-2019

Hope full footage of any of these resurface at some point. I'd love to see Kaai Yuki.

those animations look even more stiff than vocamerica's and the kaai yuki model is very clearly kakomiki's but its cool that this existed.

>What are banned/illegal voicebanks
Banned/illegal voicebanks are voicebanks that were never released / cannot be obtained. Usually these use software such as UTAU or RVC and the original voice provider as the dataset.

I found this cover someone did with Big AL (V1)

Obsessed with Homebrew Vocaloids (banks made with the leaked V3 devkit) but they're notoriously hard to find (the Japanese fandom would probably beat people's ass for piracy/hacking too)

Take this with a grain of salt because i read it from a youtube comment on a Weebalu video of all things and could not find a source but allegedly AHS wanted to make a Yuki SynthV using the original recordings from Vocaloid but needed permission from Yamaha.

One of the biggest what-ifs in history is what would've happened if Crypton had never made products for Vocaloid.

>CFM never gets into Vocaloid, as a result Meiko and Kaito don't exist - obviously this means no Miku either, and like Zero-G, the company would be known for sample CDs instead of Vocaloid

>Miku essentially popularized Vocaloid so in a world without Miku the software would likely be a niche thing that only a few Japanese people know about
>Vocaloid not reaching Japan means that UTAU is never made
>Gakupo, GUMI, Sonika, Kaai Yuki and other "mascot" voicebanks are never created
>In this timeline it's possible thar Vocaloid is actually seen as the serious vocal synthesis tool it was originally meant to be, therefore more big name producers in the music industry end up using it

Unfortunately it might be impossible because I hear SV’s devkit is ridiculously expensive, as much as 5× more than Vocaloid’s (https://x.com/Minstrel4/status/1376582693920591872, https://x.com/colstone6/status/1821101787174334729, a Maghni AI dev said the same but I can’t find the tweet) although Canon could maybe crowdfund? I feel it’d be a hit especially since Teto already has one. Normally I prefer concatenative but SV Ritsu, Ruko, and Gahata sound nice. It’d be awesome to reunite all the Vippers on SV.

Gorillaz would probably still be doing hologram concerts and be known as "the one band that uses holograms on stage"

 No.1300

Vocaloid as a whole took off because of Miku so they likely would've never ever done V3 if Miku hadn't existed, and Vocaloid would've been forgotten like its predecessors

 No.1519

>>935
>Vocaloid would be almost never used at all
Not really. I think it would've been used, just not in the same way as it is used now. Keep in mind that when Vocaloid came out it was the best vocal synthesis engine in the market. So it would likely have been used more than Cantor, Lala and other vsynths which became forgotten with V1's release. If you want to imagine how Vocaloid would've been used in a timeline where Miku doesn't exist just listen to Light + Shade by Mike Oldfield which was made in 2005 (pre-Miku) and uses MIRIAM/Lola.
