Will we ever see an UTAU revival? I know UTAU Teto has a few decently popular songs that are recent and Rei seems to be the community's favorite now but what about the others? Will we ever see new voicebanks rise to the top like Rei did or at least some interest in classics such as Momo and Defoko?

Please don't derail the thread w/ dramafaggotry & twitteresque discourse, thank you. Keep social media behavior where it belongs.

Okay! Topic change (but still on topic of UTAU), go!
Meiji Gahata used to be a very popular Utau, she was apparently released in collaberation with Lifulu shop. However, since the shop stopped existing, her voice bank was discontinued. (At least, that is my understanding as far as I can tell.)
It was known for being very high quality, and had a fuck ton of append banks. There was going to be an english voicebank of her released in 2016, but it's development was cancelled.
I think more people should make covers (and possibly original songs) with her again, since she was very pleasing to the ears, in my opinion.
Someone made her sing that JP version of Say So (and it seems to be the most recent cover with her I can find), so I'll embed that as an example of her voice.

Yeah I agree, that's why I just posted that wiki link + a single sentence tl;dr and called it a day. Won't discuss it further I promise 🫡

sorry if i contributed to the derailing, just thought the first tldr wasnt accurate

anyway i was hoping that sometime fanloid utaus would come around… like for example making a gumi sv fanloid who's a robot, basically a powerful VM put into a cv utau. or making a zatsune utau from edited miku samples. though i guess the point of fanloids is to be an edited version of an existing voicebank lol

I've recently become obsessed with obscure voicebanks made between the 2008-2015 period. A lot of them have this unique amateurish quality to it. But what hits hard for me is the fact that we're listening to a version of the voice provider that technically no longer exists and is forever stuck in time.

I made a cover with Hitori a few days ago
In fact, if you go on Youtube and search her up then filter it by upload date, you will see that it is the first time someone has used her in nearly 10 years

Surprisingly the algorithm seems to have picked it up so hopefully more and more people will know her name and we'll see more music being made with her, perhaps even a VCV/CVVC port

 No.1419

Is there a reason why 90% of vocaloid producers don't use UTAU? I know the Vipperloids were popular back in the day but i only really see people use Rei and Teto now.

90% of Vocaloid producers didn't get into UTAU because it takes a lot of effort to make it sound like Vocaloid
Nowadays people just like robotic CV voicebanks so it's easy

>it takes a lot of effort to make it sound like Vocaloid
Not really, all you need is a VCV and decent tuning skills

It's not too hard to learn if you want to, but the alternative is just
>buy a Vocaloid
>use the Vocaloid

DeepVocal sounds and looks pretty close to Vocaloid and is free. I'm not sure why it didn't really take off though, I never see DV originals.

I guess the timing was bad. Sorashido Lemi almost made it happen, and then less than a month later, Neutrino was the hot new thing for being the first AI engine.

I'm not sure if it counts so apologies, but I do know there has been a fanmade Haku CV utau vb with original samples, as if she had her own voice!

Yep the Haku utau's been mentioned in the /news/ thread before. I personally think the voice is really cute but heard that it wasn't really approved by Caffein89 or something along these lines.

While I'm still here, I might as well take the time to mention one of my main-9 fave UTAU VBs \( ^O^ )/

>Namine Tsux

A somewhat-underrated one among the batch, but has a much better fate compared to another of my favs at least.. Released in 2011, and still thriving to this day!

Interesting design, nice voicebanks, the backstory/lore is it's own craze. Or maybe it's just the fact that it's easy to get me to like a character

i just think suzy-cha is neat. heres one of her creator's covers w/ her

Wonder when this will be released and if she'll be as popular as Rei was once she's out. UTAUs are typically ignored by most of the community but since this is made by the Rei guy…

I LOVE Denatsu Sora. Her voice is so strong and beautiful, and it really doesn’t hurt that she’s been very well-tuned in every cover I’ve seen her used in.
I’ve genuinely been enjoying the Caseoh UTAU too. It’s been a pleasant surprise to see such a popular personality kind of showcase how cool vocal synths are.
