Let's get a general going in here for all things vocal-synth. I'm surprised that for a Vocaloid imageboard we don't have one yet. You know the drill.

Not trying to slander Teto but i feel like after her it's hard for any other voicebanks to get popular. KAFU was the last "literal who" to get popular before Kaai Yuki killed her momentum with Kyoufuu All Back, and then the Teto SV release happened and now everything is Teto.

You are Teto, He is Teto, She is Teto, I am Teto.

Nah it was definitely a big deal when it came out. But i think the hype for 32ki's music in general died after Obsomeat. The song is about this girl who was diagnosed with childhood-onset schizophrenia named Jani Schofield, there's a couple documentaries about her from around the time she was still a child (she is between 22-23 now). Crusher-P created it with good intentions to spread awareness of schizophrenia, but in 2019 it was revealed that Jani never really had schizophrenia and her parents were essentially drugging and abusing her. Additionally the person who mixed the original song was an alleged POCALOID user. Today this means nothing but when the song originally released you were basically the antichrist for using pirated Vocaloid software.

Earlier this year I made "A letter from…", which you have probably seen floating around since it was posted here and later reposted to other places, and it seems to have done pretty well for a 'first song'. But I want to change up my style and make something unique that hasn't been done yet.
I see a lot of people throw shit at music created by the non-Japanese side of the Vocaloid community so let me ask (You), anon, what type of music do you want to see from western producers? What genres, what voicebanks. What's missing about music created by Western producers that prevents you from coming back to it like you do with Japanese ones?.
>inb4 nothing kek

 No.3595

>>3594
I just dislike generic pop and electronica songs. The more rock or metalcore something is, the higher chance I will like it. There's exceptions to this rule. I've been seeing a lot of generic pop blow up in the West and I cannot for the life of me understand why people like Flavor Folley despite liking Vane's music outside of it.
One of the things I absolutely love about Western Voca-P's over Eastern is the likelihood you'll see a rare voicebank. I see more usage of loids like Maika in the West than the East, and the constant barrage of Cryptonloids generally aren't for me so I rarely listen to JPloid unless I know the producer writes good music. UTSU is my favorite JP Voca-P with Xitoo in second.

 No.3596

I'm surprised the Japanese don't use Maika considering Spanish and Japanese are similar pronunciation-wise. It's actually very easy to make her sing in Japanese (although with a heavy European accent).

 No.3597

Agreed, and Maika has extra phonemes to make several languages easier. In fact, her phoneme list is completely unique. Not even Bruno or Clara have it and they're easy enough to make sing in Spanish, English, and Japanese.

>>3595
Hm, that's interesting because a while back I thought of making some power pop / pop punk that's even more poppy than the song I put out a while back. Something like SMILE-era Porter Robinson where it's still very much guitar driven but more "artificial" and with synths/drum machines. I'll continue making rock for the time being but I'll see what I can do in the future. Metalcore i feel is beyond my capabilities.

You'll buy Lapis right anon?

 No.3673

>>3672
Not them but from what I can gather, Lapis is the only Vocaloid that has no virus-free Pocaloid download. Feel free to correct me on that, but back in 2017 she only had one crack with a virus attached, which was spread around everywhere. I love Lapis though, she and Merli are criminally underrated.

There's a torrent dated 2019 on Nyaa with tons of voicebanks from v1-v5, including Lapis. Doesn't seem to be a virus, nobody complaining in the comments and it seems to work right to me, but I run Linux so no guarantees.

I'm pretty insecure about my couple of released originals, but they're certainly the ones I feel least insecure about. Here's one I took a year to make. The Piko tuning is terrible (and the mixing also sucks) because I got so exhausted with it after a while.
I also released it publicly, but I'm pretty insecure despite (already) getting much better at tuning him in covers. I'm far better with Miki and Big Al but I rarely touch them.
It was originally supposed to be with Teto, but Teto SV 1.0 was…horrible with English already, and I got her pretty much day one.
I have a few more recent WIPs and older instrumentals I'm trying very hard to salvage from around 2020-2022, some even older but I can't find them.

Is it just me that finds "Vocaloid was better 10 years ago" fags insufferable?. To this day I still love and listen to most of the stuff featured in those old DIVA games. But the 2020's gave us so much cool shit that a decade ago would be mindblowing to the average Vocaloid fan (r-906, Sasuke Haraguchi, masarada, iyowa, etc) and it feels like the average "old vocaloid fan" doesn't appreciate that.

 No.3814

>>3812
Most of my favorite Vocaloid songs came out in the late 2010s, but a lot of good things came from the 2020s: Actually good SynthV Voices, Masarada, Team 6x111 (Though, I wasn't a fan of Qualia Automata), and so on so forth. Most of my favorite Vocaloid songs are still from the late 2010s, but small VocaP's are making a lot of good songs that wouldn't really be a thing in the 2010s.
That said, I think the "Modern Vocaloid sucks!" types are (usually) so fed up with the modern Western community that it taints their view of Modern Vocaloid as a whole.

 No.3815

Most likely they're just looking at what's trending which is usually intentionally made to go viral (e.g. most mikuteto songs)
