Sometimes i acome across MMD channels from the mid 2000's - early 2010's and get sad once i realize they're inactive. Does anybody else feel this?. Also thread for classic MMD videos, share some MMD classics.

Some might have just moved channels, I was active for over 10 years on YouTube but I moved channels whenever one of my channels got a strike lmao 😭

Are you in your 30's or late 20's? Assuming you were one of those who were in their mid-late 10's when they started making MMD content.

I’m in my late 20s, I was like 12 when I started making mmd videos lmao

>poorly made youtuber animations
>random character the animator likes dancing to whatever was popular on the radio
>all models being some edited variant of animasa
>default shading because no one knew how to use shaders at the time
>"mmd funny shorts"
>terrible shipping videos made by 14yo fujos
i miss it

To be fair, I don't think shaders/mikumikueffect in general came out until ~2011-2012, right? idk coz my memory is nearly nonexistent tho

when i got into mmd shaders were already a thing but raycast didn't exist. the most popular shaders were adultshader and toonshader (the original not the new one)

A while back he said on twitter that he had been lurking some imageboards, among them 39chan and rottingangels, and that if 39chan wasnt so slow he would be more active on it. Which is funny because honestly for imageboard standards i wouldn't really consider 39 a slow site. It gets more than 15 posts on a good day.

I wish I got into using MMD way back when. I think I might have given it a shot even, and gave up within the week, lol.

39chan isn't fast for most people used to Twitter, Reddit, 4chan, anything really high traffic.

but by old-school web forum standards, we're pretty quick here
there are like two or three sites I browse these days that are faster than this

I remember picking up MMD around 2014 because SFM was too resource intensive for my old windows 7 machine. It was surprisingly easy to use, at least compared to other animation software. These days i use Blender though, which ironically feels easier than MMD.

Do people still make those silly MMD shorts anymore? the "mmd gakupo x kaito kiss" type ones?.
