I've rp'd and me and my boyfriend somewhat rp in our dms sometimes. its kind of a "*hugs you*" type thing with us though, not full scale rp with characters though (i have done that when i was younger). I'm sure communities still exist for this, but always make sure the person you rp with is over 18, regardless of if the rp is sexual or not.

Yeah, as appealing as the idea of character RP is to me, it is unfortunately a magnet for minors. I'm sure all those Sukone Tei RP accounts on Deviantart, Facebook, Twitter, and hell even Google+ if you want to include that corpse of a site were probably made by bored 12 year olds who wanted to live their fantasy of being a crazy yandere obsessed with a fictional banana haired boy.
But that's also part of why I'm so fascinated with old rp accounts, it's a type of fun I've never experienced when I was their age so I feel like I missed out on it. It exudes a form of innocence that's just no longer in me. I can't think of a community of peeps my age who would be willing to engage in something like this, even turboautists seem disinterested in the idea of non sexual RP these days. Especially now that cringe culture is at its worst despite what people say about it being dead.

I used to, but from I was like 12-18ish. I mainly did it on freewebs (rip) and tumblr. I still WANT to, but it's been nearly 10 years now, and I have no idea where or what I'd do to get back into it.
Also, tumblr stresses me out now lmao.

I feel like nowadays the only places where you can do safe for work rp are sandbox games like Minecraft. Modern social media is completely different to what it was decades ago, you're only gonna find gooner rp accounts there.

I won't lie, i've considered making an rp account for sukone tei or kaito on bluesky since that's the "new twitter" and the vocaloid fandom while still extremely toxic isn't as annoying as on twitter there

Do people actually RP on bluesky? I feel that the alt text option would be really useful given how much text you can fit in it, to be fair. But I didn't think enough people would make RP accounts.

Fell down a rabbit hole of Vocaloid roleplay screenshots taking place in dAmn (the now defunct Deviantart chatrooms) and it reminded me of how fun the internet used to be years ago. Discord is not the same, everyone there is bitter and allergic to fun, and if anything the amount of channels and unfair moderation makes it feel more like if Reddit and IRC had a deformed incest child. Maybe i'm just old and depressed.

I admittedly miss it a lot. I miss the fucking around while pretending to be a character aspect of it, especially in MMO games (Hell, my first RP experiences were in Club penguin and Habbo) because if you joined a public RP most people would play along with you. I'd love to do something like that again. I'm aware it's cringe, and I don't give a shit. All I want is to not run into children since it is true that most SFW roleplayers are typically underage.
