>>173>The only English-speakers as knowledgeable as I am about these synths are vocatwt who can die in a fire franklyIt's funny you mention this because that is the reason 39chan exists in the first place. Before the idea of an imageboard like Nanachan (which ended up becoming this site) had even been thought of i ran a small indie Vocaloid forum (18+ but safe for work) primarily intended for the old-school fans and people who knew about any other 'loids aside from the crypton ones. But it got like 3 users and died almost immediately. I've always wanted to talk to other Vocaloid fans but hated the hostility of Twitter communities/fandoms and the way Vocaloid is discussed on 4/jp/ so i passed the idea of 39chan to the current owner/host, who prior to 39chan had little experience with imageboards.
I think the reason i wanted to make it an imageboard instead of yet another forum is because there's demand for imageboards covering a single topic
(there's a thread on /jp/ right now linking to this site and i noticed a lot of people liked that 39chan's a "vocaloid" imageboard and not just another anime, vidya, random imageboard - those have been done to death) and the fact that forums are somehow more dead than imageboards. Originally when the site was launched i promoted it on sushichan and it spread through word of mouth but had it been a forum i feel like no one would have used it, especially when other more successful vocaloid forums exist.
>"I guess we're live / Not sure for how long."This announcement was made a few days before the site went public. Around 9/10 or 9/11 the site had become usable but due to an issue with IP addresses it was only open to acquaintances and friends. On 9/15 the site finally became public under the 39chan.moe domain but still had the issue with the IPs so it went down for a couple of days before officially launching on 9/19.
Since I don't host the site/own the domain (can't afford either) the site has died a few times before. Most notably on 11/9 when it went down for an entire day. But idk, as long as there's somebody hosting the site it's going to live. Long live Mikuchan indeed and sorry for the history dump.

sometimez i wonder if any big names in the vocaloid community browse this site. obviously 39ch is anonymous so without a tripcode or them directly confirming via social media that they use the site its impossible to tell. the only person who's somewhat popular who i know uses 39chan is that majin guy who makes MMD PVs for other vocaPs because he said so on twitter.
though he also said that he doesnt do it often cause the site's slow

I'm working on an indie vocal synth wiki right now for the same exact reason (and also the fact Fandom is basically adware LOL)
I love the idea of multiple people working together to cultivate an "underground" western Vocaloid fandom that's oldfag paradise and also drama and moralfag free like the good ol' days.
>>176Ah, that's good! I've only heard bad things about 8chan and it's good to know that isn't true.

>>182Don't think this is a good attitude. We should be working to help vocaltwt understand the old-school perspective, and it would help for this site to have an account on twitter since exclusively recruiting from other ibs isn't a great solution long term. Even if some people shun us, I'm willing to bet that a decent amount would give a place like this a chance. Maybe we have to make the "no hate speech" rule more visible?
No.184

I'm just not a fan of what the vocaloid fandom has become and it feels like newgens don't really care about vocalsynths beyond what they see in PJSK. I agree with the idea that recruiting from other IBs is bad though, they'll probably just ignore the "no hate speech" rule. I say let this place find people rather than the other way around, isn't there already about 500 users? Maybe encourage people to spread it by word of mouth, I talk about it to my VSynth friends all the time.
>We should be working to help vocaltwt understand the old-school perspectiveThey aren't willing to do this.
They falsely accused and harassed one of my mutuals off of Twitter over making a Koikatsu mod for Eleanor Forte, who to my knowledge doesn't even have a canon age. They also faked screenshots of one of my old mutuals saying he wants to rape his sister over a nude Project Diva mod and I haven't seen him since, I hope he's doing ok :/ Too risky. Sorry if I'm blogposting a bit.

The Japanese PJSK fandom also doesn’t seem even half as toxic.

>>202>sometimes i think about how this fandom went from listening to songs like "the straight-faced science girl" unironically and having a yandere onee-san whose entire personality is wanting to fuck len as one of the most popular UTAU characters to getting offended over songs that aren't even explicitly sexual but suggestive at best.Minors, social media, slacktivists who think gooning to yuri/yaoi/futa will help liberate the gays and probably more I'm forgetting. I don't even like yaoi yet miss fujos and will take them over the new, woke, tourist "BL fans" any day. Anime going mainstream in the West (is being Otaku socially acceptable in Japan now like it is here?) and being co-opted by the same people who hated us back in 2014 and prior didn't help either. I'm kind of paranoid Vocaloid culture will be co-opted and watered down in a similar way that anime (and K-pop) was/were seeing how much vocatwt and Stan Twitter overlap (among other things, like seeing a few English-language Kikuo interviews along with English language Billboard articles on the Vocaloid scene and Tiktok fans) :/
>this really feels like the only site with mature vocaloid fans.Facts..why I got scared during the latest outage. Vocaverse is decently mature and seems to have an older age range (since they often post where to purchase things) so there's no infighting or unfunny forced memes like the "Meme Squad" but still has the weird anti-otaku/otaku-bashing section of the fandom present.
No.206
>>204That's already been happening since the whole "miku made minecraft" thing but at least to those people Vocaloid is just miku and the other vocaloids do not exist. No one's gonna make shitty memes about Kaito because the normies only know and care about Miku.
No.207
>>202The outrage confuses me tbh, why do they hate nununu's new song but seem to love monitoring? Miku's singing about actual suggestive things in a school uniform. that's more pervy to me than mesugiku. It feels more like they just personally don't like the song and want a reason for it kek
No.208
>>204Imageboards in general have otaku roots (2ch,4chan,etc) so it's not surprising that 39chan is more respectful in that regard.
>VocaverseAlways saw this site when googling "vocaloid forums" but found its UI intimidating
(i'm more used to the phpBB/SMF forums, not a fan of Xenforo) >>207Because most western vocaloid fans don't know Japanese and won't bother reading a translation of the lyrics and the MV isn't inherently sexual or suggestive. Rabbit Hole (also by Deco) was controversial because it had Miku in a bunny suit singing about having sex and doing sexual poses.
No.212
>>207>It feels more like they just personally don't like the song and want a reason for it kekI feel this is a HUGE reason behind most social media and internet outrage nowadays tbh, for some reason people feel like they can’t just dislike things anymore. It has to be some sort of moral failing on the person/content they dislike’s part, everything they dislike has to have some sort of rapist or pedophile involved or they feel they’re “banned” from disliking it.
(Although in my opinion Nununu’s song probably seems lewder to someone who knows little to no Japanese, compare the PVs, doesn’t she ahegao a few times too in the Nununu song’s PV too? Kids also sing suggestive songs all the time too, so to normies it probably seems like a kid singing a popular song that happens to have sexual lyrics vs. an actual child doing sexual things. I feel if Monitoring was sung by an actual minor no one would mind meanwhile a real child doing the things in that Nununu PV would obviously be bad lol.)

sad thoughs: with rise of ai covers, Vocaloid religion could fade away, like horse riders fade away from roads when automobiles were invented.
So, Shine you crazy diamond! Enjoy vocaloid gigs & community, buy & sell merch, because in 2030 no one will understand what vocaloid/vocal synth is, because Ai voice be norm.
That's reminds me I wanted to buy those midi miku keyboards & guitar pedals. And thanks for all the fan arts! <3 💜

The reason this happened with Shiki Rowen's voicebank back when he was announced was due to the fact that V6 is a massive flop so anything related to it instantly gets a bad rep, some controversy involving misleading advertising (if I'm not mistaken they used SynthV for one of the trailers even though the voicebank is for V6), and the artist having a furry diaper fetish + being a lolisho and having some controversial political views, or something along those lines. I might be misremembering, never cared for Shiki.
People are attacking N_u because his song is popular and they see art or mentions of it everywhere. That's what it all boils down to. When something becomes popular there's bound to be people trying to find reasons to hate it, even if they make no sense.

Why do people act like Teto was some wholoid prior to SynthV? She's literally in Project Diva and I can't name a single UTAU more popular than her, yet I just saw someone claim "There were very little people who talked about her prior to SynthV" and acting like Mezmerizer is her only popular song and the only other reason she's popular are Pearto memes when Yoshiwara Lament and Teto Territory are right there.
No.249
>>248Probably because she hasn't had any super popular songs since the early 2010's so newfags see her as a wholoid. It's a similar thing with Neru/Haku, they've always been popular except the only reason people care about Neru now is because of Mesmerizer memes and Channel's Triple Ryuunen art. Prior to her SynthV the last big Teto song i remember is Nekosagi-Matter Bop in 2014, these days almost every popular Vocaloid song IS a Teto song.

It makes me so sad when Japanese companies go out of their way to cater to us just to get shit on, I’m suprised they even still do it. Most of the “xenophobia” is just shitty machine translations and I’m not sure how that’s not obvious as fuck. I dislike the response to Rosa SV’s crowdfund when Japanese fans always go above and beyond during crowdfunds, so they were probably expecting us to do the same. If the Japanese fandom was told “we’ll give you Zundamon SynthV but only if you climb 3 mountains” they would literally do it.
